Best Makeup Looks from NYFW Fall 2016

Rodarte
Rodarte gave us ethereal with a dark twist. This meant luminous skin, rosy cheeks, and deep plum lips. For some of the models, the dark lips were outlined with a lighter magenta lip color. This dark fairy look went with the gothic trend that dominated the week but was more feminine and easy to recreate.
Oscar de la Renta
Graphic black eyeliner was a major trend on the runways this season. Most notably are the looks from Oscar de la Renta where a crisp black wing was drawn in the crease of the lid. This look managed to be polished and light without being too bold of a statement.
Tadashi Shoji
Nail art is often an overlooked detail when it comes to shows. This season, most nail looks were natural or minimalist. However, the Tadashi Shoji presentation featured black textured nails with gold foil details. This look was a bit theatrical but stormy and sophisticated. Each nail had a different look since each black paint stroke was intentionally inconsistent and gave a spontaneous feel that only added to the edginess of the nail look.
Jason Wu
The shows continued with the trend of dramatic lashes we saw during Fashion Week back in October. A great example of this was the Jason Wu presentation, which featured dramatic clumpy spidery lashes. The look was achieved with Maybelline The Colossal Spider Effect Mascara – a product that hit early this year. The idea behind the look is beauty with a twist, almost rebellious. The lashes were intentionally clumpy to mimic a girl on the run.
Anna Sui
The Anna Sui show was all about 60’s retro flair with psychedelic colors and prints. For the beauty looks, this meant perfectly tousled hair with large feathery false lashes and a light pink lip. Some models had “pop art” on their creases in the form of crown-like spikes.
