Working From Home Fashion: Styling Sweatpants and Staying Comfortable

If you’re like me, this has been your outfit for the last couple of weeks...

...And you started to feel a little gross a few days ago. Sweatpants and pajamas are soft and comfortable, but they can also make you feel unmotivated and unproductive. At the same time, the clothes we often wear out of the house, like jeans, are the last thing on anyone’s mind. You may be wondering: how can I look my best while still feeling comfortable and casual?

I have a few ideas.

Athleisure

The easiest place to start is athleisure. A style popularized by brands such as Lululemon, Athleta, and Nike, athleisure is the happy medium between stylish and comfortable. This trend has become such an easy way to look stylish without sacrificing comfort. This simple athleisure ensemble combines bright, colorful leggings and a comfortable sweatshirt to create a look that just might motivate you to get moving.

If today isn’t gym day, consider blending this athletic style with everyday pieces like a crop top, graphic tee, or sweater. Here, we used joggers and a tunic sweater to make athleisure just a little cozier.

T-Shirts

I’ve found myself lounging around in some of my old t-shirts from high school. A fun tee can easily be dressed up with a button-up or cardigan, or even some stretchy ripped jeans if you’re feeling ambitious.

Comfy Pants

These aren’t always easy to find. Maybe you have a pair of those camo-print cargo pants, elephant pants, or stretchy corduroy pants that are both a statement piece and surprisingly comfortable. My go-to pants for comfort and style are a pair of burgundy corduroy pants which I pair with a stretchy grey crew neck for this stay-at-home look.

Dresses/Skirts

Maybe you’re tired of wearing pants altogether. For a surprisingly comfortable, cute, and still low-effort outfit, pull out your skirts and maxi dresses (hello spring!) from your closet and layer with a cardigan or sweater when it gets chilly. Then, lounge around, stretch out, and feel just a little bit more stylish doing so.
