Quarantine Week in Review: When Life Felt Normal

About a week before spring break my best friends came to Boston from all across the east coast for a weekend. We had an amazing time, and that was the last time we were allowed to be physically close to each other.

It’s ironic how I miss when we used to live miles apart. Now we’re all back home and less than a few minutes from each other, but can’t be together because of stay at home orders and government imposed curfew.

This photo was taken in Feb, flying to visit my friends for the weekend at Syracuse University. This was the last time I was able to travel without feeling concerned for my health and the health of those around me.

Last time things felt normal: I got this latte back in February, at Render Coffee, and I spent the day walking around in the sun, writing in my journal, and running errands. After the school kicked us out of our apartments, I ended up subleasing and sharing an apartment with a friend who doesn't drink coffee, and because my previous roommate was a HUGE coffee-drinker, I had always just used her coffee maker or gone out to a cafe, and I didn't have my own supplies to make any. This picture may have actually been the last time I had a latte - I miss coffee!

This photo is a screenshot from a TikTok my friends and I made during a wine night. This is the last time things felt somewhat normal before quarantine. There was 11 of us total in the apartment that night, one more than today’s recommendation against gatherings of 10 or more. Looking back on this, I miss being able to hang out with my friends and have fun! I can’t wait until we can all have fun nights with our friends again.

I chose an image from a road trip I took with friends before quarantine. At that time, we actively chose to take an isolating trip into nature, but now isolation is no longer a choice, but a requirement.
